How Lo Lo Mai got its name -loloma

According to Hopi artist Charles Loloma, Loloma (spelled Lo Lo Mai by the founders of the resort) “is the masculine word for beauty in the Hopi Language.”  Loloma is also the name of a famous Hopi tribal leader.  We have been told by others who speak the Hopi language that Loloma can be used as a universal greeting, similar to aloha or shalom.  We like to say that Lo Lo Mai is a Hopi word – said with a hick accent.
